SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — WREG learned that Shannon Lamb, wanted for two deadly shootings including one at Delta State, has ties to Shelby County.
A long-time family friend lives in Germantown and begged Lamb to turn himself in.
“All you can do is watch, and I’m just hoping they catch him,” said David Aldridge, who was visibly shaken when WREG spoke with him on his porch in Germantown. “I just remember Shannon being a baby, you know, and out running around.”
Aldridge said he grew up with Lamb in Greenville, Mississippi and has known him for decades.
Lamb is now the target of a massive manhunt and wanted for shooting two people including a fellow professor on Delta State University’s campus Monday.
“I’m totally stunned, and I’ve been sitting here watching it all day. I’m his friend on Facebook, so I’ve been watching everything on Facebook,” Aldridge said. “I posted on his Facebook, ‘Shannon just turn yourself in. Don’t hurt yourself or anyone else and go get help.’ That’s all you can do.”
Aldridge said Lamb has never shown signs he would do anything violent especially since he’s a father.
Lamb’s Facebook showed him playing guitar and going on vacations including Memphis where he took a picture last year at a Beale Street bar.
In a recent post, he praised himself for getting his doctorate.
“It is just unbelievable. You never think anybody would do something like this especially someone you know,” said Aldridge.
In previous Facebook posts, Lamb wrote affectionate comments about the woman he’s accused of killing in a home on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
