Deputies arrest three students for identity theft

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office released more information on the arrest of three Bolton High School students.

According to investigators, 19-year-old Malik Tate and two 17-year-olds were arrested on Aggravated Burglary, Theft and Identity Theft charges among others.

In December 2014, the trio  allegedly stole a 32″ LG TV, an Apple Mac Book Pro, a First Tennessee debit card, a Capital One credit card, a Helena Chemical Company credit card, a black Kenneth Cole purse, and a Toshiba external hard drive from a couple in the area.

In addition to giving a detailed list of what was stolen, the victims also handed over a bank statement that showed their cards had been used at the Wal-Marts on Highway 64 in Bartlett and on North Germantown Parkway.

The three students were subsequently caught by surveillance video using the victim’s debit cards.

All three of them admitted to the theft and were sent to Juvenile Court and 201 Poplar respectively.

In addition, several of the stolen items were recovered after deputies executed a search warrant for a home in the 1300 block of Sutton Meadow Lane.
