(DeSoto County, MS) Not so fast! That’s what DeSoto County Sheriff Bill Rasco is saying about a judge’s effort to block a controversial gun law from taking affect July 1st in Mississippi.

The law allows anyone to carry a gun that is not concealed, without a permit.

A Hinds County judge issued a ruling late Friday temporarily blocking the law until a hearing can be held.

Sheriff Rasco says the law will go into effect anyway.

He says he spoke with the district attorney and believes the Hinds County judge has no jurisdiction over DeSoto County, so the law stands.
