DESOTO COUNTY, Miss. — The Desoto County Sheriff’s Department confirmed a middle school teacher was arrested after she was caught with a controlled substance.

According to the district’s website, Ashley George is a sixth-grade history and science teacher at Desoto Central Middle School.

WREG was told George was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance and careless driving on November 10th. Authorities did not release any additional details about the arrest but said she bonded out of jail the very same day.

George has been put on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation by the school district.
