PEARL, Miss. — Residents of Coahoma, Quitman, Tunica, Bolivar, Forrest and Greene counties in Mississippi who were affected by the past month’s severe storms and flooding now have resources available to get assistance.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency have opened Disaster Recovery Centers in the previously mentioned counties for residents to get help in the recovery process.
The centers are run by MEMA and FEMA, and representatives from other agencies are on hand as well.
If you have disaster-related losses, you’re encouraged to register for assistance by calling the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 (those who have trouble hearing or speaking can call TTY 880-462-7585) between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. any day or by registering online at DisasterAssistance.gov.
Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration will be at the centers to help homeowners, renters and business owners get low-interest disaster loans. You can also reach the SBA for assistance at 800-659-2955 (TTY 800-877-8339 for the deaf or hard of hearing) or at sba.gov/disaster, and you can apply for the loans at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.
Centers are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Center in our viewing area are located at:
