NEWPORT, Ark. — The U.S. Department of Justice has wrapped up the on-site portion of its investigation into allegations of sexual harassment and abuse at women’s prison.

WREG first reported about the investigation at the McPherson Women’s Prison in Newport when it first started back in June.

According to reports, there were numerous accusations filed against the correctional staff.

They claimed some of the employees had sexual intercourse and other sex acts with prisoners, exchanged money for sexual favors, and even took photos and videos of prisoners while they were naked.

A three-member team arrived at the facility on Monday to begin on-site interviews.

The team was able to wrap up its investigation Thursday but said it could be months before a report was released.

According to THV11, Correction Officials said they believed the investigation involved a former chaplain suspected of having relations with two inmates.
