MEMPHIS, Tenn. – – Tempers flared outside of a Hickory Hill apartment, leading to something straight out of a movie. Police say a young woman chased her boyfriend with a sword while threatening him and his grandma.

It started Sunday afternoon when 22-year-old Thaddeus Young and 20-year-old Ariel Agnew got into a fight outside of his apartment off Hickory Hill Road, near Mount Moriah.

“They were making some words,” Young’s grandmother, Ethel Davis said. “She (Agnew) just went haywire.”

Davis says Agnew drove off as her grandson tried getting his clothes out of the back of her car.

“She drug him in the process,” Davis said. “I was afraid that he was going to turn loose, and she was going to run over him.”

Davis says Agnew quickly crashed into a Mustang, popped the trunk of her car, grabbed a sword and chased Young inside of the apartment.

“She came over to the door and was hitting the door with the sword and said, ‘Come on out. I’m going to get you and your grandmama,” Davis said. “I feared for my life.”

Police say Agnew cracked the windshield on the grandmother’s SUV and then took a water cover meter and tossed it through the apartment’s glass patio door.

“I’m like, ‘Oh my God. No she didn’t,” Davis said.

The grandmother says Agnew attacked her grandson and cut his arm when he tried to stop her.

We’re told his wound is not bad and he’s okay.

“She was still here when the police came with the weapon in her hand.”

According to an arrest affidavit, Agnew admits to damaging property but claims she cut her boyfriend in self-defense.

Davis says she’s seen the two argue before, but never like this.

“I hope this is a wake up call, not only for her but for him too,” Davis said.

She thinks the relationship needs to end.

“End. Water and oil do not mix. So, it does need to end,” Davis says.

We don’t know why Agnew had a sword or where it came from, but we do know she’s charged with aggravated assault and vandalism.

She’s due in court tomorrow. Perhaps those questions will be answered then.
