WEAKLEY COUNTY, Tenn. — The Weakley County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Animal Rescue Corps, rescued dozens of animals at two unrelated properties.
According to WBBJ, the rescues were conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday; one at a property in Gleason, and the other in Martin.
The investigation into the homeowners began after neighbors called in tips about large amounts of animals at the homes.
When Deputies arrived at the Martin location, they found 19 medium and large breed dogs.
There were even puppies.
None of the animals had adequate food, water or shelter.
The next day, Deputies recovered five dogs and 12 cars from the Gleason property.
These animals were found in the same conditions, but this time they were locked in pens and on chains outdoors.
In all, the ARC said they rescued 36 animals.
The Sheriff’s Office said they would not be charging the homeowners because in each case they voluntarily surrendered the animals when Deputies arrived.
All of the animals were handed over to the ARC.
All of the animals will receive a vet exam, their vaccinations and any other necessary medical treatment.
In addition, all of them will be up for adoption or fostering soon.
