Driver facing charges after deadly crash

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis man is facing several charges after a deadly one-vehicle crash in Whitehaven.

27-year-old Travis Brownlee is charged with vehicular homicide and reckless driving.

Police say Brownlee was driving a Chevrolet HHR and lost control at Shelby Drive and Gill around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

There were two passengers in the car — Tequoia Scales and Telia Brownlee.

Scales died from her injuries and Telia Brownlee remains in critical condition in the hospital.

Police say Travis Brownlee also suffered injuries but he was later released from the hospital and taken into custody.

According to the affidavit, Brownlee was driving on a suspended license and also failed to provide proof of insurance.
