MEMPHIS, Tenn. — WREG has more information on a suspect accused injuring two officers while on the run in south Memphis on Sunday.
Isaiah Triplett is charged with domestic assault, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, evading arrest in a vehicle, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and violation of vehicle registration law.
It all started when police responded to a domestic violence call on Elder. The victim told officers Triplett struck her multiple times in the face.
Police saw Triplett drive by in a white Infiniti I30 and conducted a traffic stop at South Third Street and Builders Way. They noticed three kids in the car – ages 13, 12 and 1.
After repeatedly asking the suspect to step out the car, they attempted to physically remove him. He resisted and drove away at a high-rate of speed, dragging the officers a short distance.
He crashed into another vehicle and a fire hydrant while fleeing the scene.
Authorities say the kids in the car were transported to LeBonheur in non-critical condition.
“That’s terrible man. I feel bad for them,” resident Henry McCraken said.
The two officers are okay and so is the driver of the car that was hit. The suspect was seriously hurt in the crash and had to be taken to the hospital.
