MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A drug bust led Shelby County investigators to hundreds of pills, some weapons and a man they believe was doing drug deals in an East Memphis neighborhood.
Nicholas Gillard, 33, is facing several charges, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture/deliver/sell and possession of a firearm during commission/attempt to commit a dangerous felony.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at Gillard’s home on Ross Ridge Drive Monday.
Before searching the home, investigators reportedly saw him perform drug deals.
They pulled over one of Gillard’s reported customers and found alprazolam pills.
They also pulled Gillard over and found guns and $600 in cash.
Investigators searched Gillard’s home and found more than 400 pills. Most of them were alprazolam, which is what Xanax is.
In addition to the pills, investigators found $2,847 in cash and more guns, including a semi-automatic rifle.
“He’s a pretty decent guy. I would’ve had no thoughts that that’s something that would be going on,” one of his neighbors told WREG.
The neighbor said Gillard has a lawncare business.
An arrest affidavit said Gillard told investigators he had been selling alprazolam pills off and on for two to three years to supplement his income.
WREG tried to speak with someone at Gillard’s home Tuesday, but that person did not respond.
