DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn. — Family of two men charged in the Holly Bobo case spoke out for the first time, and insist Zach and Dylan Adams aren’t guilty.
Dylan was arraigned on two charges of rape Wednesday.
Zach is charged with kidnapping and murdering Holly.
Dylan’s court-appointed attorney entered a plea of not guilty for him and said he didn’t rape nursing student Holly Bobo, who vanished from her home three years ago.
Her remains was found last month in a wooded area by hunters.
The TBI said Dylan confessed to being involved in Holly’s rape.
But Dylan’s family said he’s mentally challenged, cannot even tell time, and couldn’t have done it.
“We have asked the same question, why they haven’t done a mental evaluation on him,” Dylan Adams’ cousin Moss Miller said. “But as far as we know, nothing has come about.”
Miller said law enforcement and the community as a whole are so desperate for answers in Holly’s case, they are unjustly blaming Zach and Dylan.
“The entire community and half the country has convicted these boys with no evidence,” he said.
District Attorney Matt Stowe said police have stayed close to the Bobos and made sure they knew when charges were coming.
While the Adams family said they hurt for the Bobos, they will not let Zach and Dylan go down without a fight.
“I’m going to stand up for my family, for justice, for what needs to be done,” Miller said, clenching his jaw.
Bond is set at $25,000 for Dylan. Defendants in the case have a motion hearing on December 17.
