LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. — While the Mid-South braced for winter weather, southern Mississippi was hit with a different type of storm.

The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-2 tornado touched down in Lamar County Thursday night.

Damage was also reported in 11 other counties including Clarke, Simpson and Jasper Counties.

According to WLBT, one family was devastated when their home was destroyed, while another is cleaning up the damage left by a fallen tree.

In all 10 to 12 homes were damaged, The Clarion Ledger reported.

Thankfully no fatalities were reported.
