CLARKSDALE, Miss. — A Clarksdale woman is dead Sunday morning after police say she was shot and killed inside her home.

Police say 66-year-old Myrtle Messenger was shot and killed at her home in the 700 block of Poplar Street around 11p.m. Saturday night.

A suspect has not been arrested.

Investigators say it is unknown whether Myrtle was the initial target or if someone else living at the home may have been the target.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and The Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office are also working on this shooting.

A couple was shot and killed inside their home in the 600 block of Mississippi Street. This will make the second murder for Clarksdale in 2015.
