Electric wish: Boy tours Tennessee Valley Authority

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A Covington teenager has gone on a tour of the Tennessee Valley Authority as part of an opportunity organized by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that 14-year-old Noah Caldwell, along with his family and two nurses, visited the TVA’s high-security Systems Operations Center to see how electricity is distributed over the authority’s seven-state service area.

The trip was paid for by the Chattanooga-based Make-A-Wish Foundation of East Tennessee.

TVA Business Service representative Tori Lester says Caldwell, who uses a wheelchair, became interested in electricity when he started wondering about the power transmission system while receiving physical therapy.

TVA Systems Operation Center Senior Manager Jerry Wynne says he was excited to give the tour and says Caldwell could someday work there.
