MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shelby County students are getting a hands-on experience when it comes to learning about food. Tuesday, Winchester Elementary students kicked off the first learning garden of the season. Students will be planting a “plant parts” themed garden to learn about the different parts of a plant that can be eaten. Things like lettuce, radishes, peas and more were planted Tuesday morning. Since 2015, the Kitchen Community team has built and planted nearly 40 gardens in Shelby County Schools.
