Elliston Road shooting victim speaks out

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A salon owner is paralyzed after he said a man he knew shot him last month. He asked the community Tuesday to help police find the suspected gunman.

“Paralyzed. They had to redo my entire stomach line,” shooting victim LaRhon Threalkill said.

WREG visited Threalkill and several of his loved ones Tuesday. He described what happened at his home on Elliston Road on July 15.

“I knew he was trying to kill me,” Threalkill said.

Threalkill said Devyn Knowles, a man he knew from school and from singing together, knocked on his door. He let Knowles in, and they talked.

Threalkill said he used the bathroom, and when we came out, his lights were out. He said he then went to get his phone for light.

“As soon as I went to my bedroom with the lights out, he immediately shot me,” Threalkill said.

After the first several shots, Threalkill said Knowles left. After about 20 minutes, he said Knowles returned and shot him again.

He said he suffered seven gunshots total.

He said Knowles also stole his money, clothes and other belongings.

Threalkill said he was able to use his arms to crawl to his porch where a neighbor called for help.

His mother, LaRhonda Britt, said she learned her son was shot when she saw his home on the news.

She and her husband rushed to his street and saw blood through the windows of his home.

Threalkill said he can no longer run his salon.

Knowles, whom police confirmed is the suspected shooter, is still on the streets. There is a warrant out for his arrest.

“It’s hard for me to understand why, you know, someone would do that, a person that we have known,” Britt said.
