MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An inmate wanted in Hinds County after fleeing from his work detail was apprehended by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. According to WLBT, 31-year-old Gary Chambers was tracked down after law enforcement received a tip he was in the area. They later discovered he was staying with a relative in Memphis. Authorities believe he had help after escaping as he didn’t have the means to travel that far on his own. They are now questioning family members. Chambers was one of three inmates who escaped on February 10 while picking up trash on I-220 Northbound. Jeremy Demond Jordan, 24, turned himself on Friday saying “the devil made him do it.” He also told investigators the trio had planned the escape ahead of time. They reportedly told the guards they had to go to the restroom, and once given permission to leave, they walked away. Officers are still looking for 20-year-old Deundre Pinkston, who, along with Chambers, only had 24 days left to serve. They all could now serve up to five more years behind bars.
