CORDOVA, Tenn. — Sherrie Daly, the ex-wife of professional golfer John Daly, has been arrested again.

This time, police said she repeatedly hit a man with a golf club.

Officers responded to the aggravated assault on Ivy League Lane in Cordova at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The victim told police he was sleeping when he heard a loud noise and woke up to see Sherrie Daly holding a golf club. He said there was broken glass around the exterior door to his bedroom.

Sherrie Daly then hit him on the hands and forearms, which he was using to protect his head, police said.

The man said he was able to get the golf club away from her and take her outside, and she then left.

A witness who was in the room at the time left the house when Sherrie Daly came into the bedroom; the two have restraining orders against each other, police said.

Sherrie Daly turned herself in Tuesday night. She is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated burglary and violation of a protection order.

Sherrie Daly was in court this September to answer charges of extortion and harassment after police said she posted to Facebook explicit photos of another woman that she found on her boyfriend’s phone.

She also received a 90-day suspended sentence last year when her son had 52 unexcused absences from school. In 2005, she served five months in jail on federal charges for drugs and gambling.
