MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Thousands worked together to make neighborhoods and streets safe.
The winners of the Faith in Action Memphis cleanup project were recognized for their service on Friday.
They told WREG it’s about taking ownership of their neighborhoods and that’s exactly what they did.
There were a total of 350 teams from churches, businesses and neighborhoods.
About 10 teams who had the largest number of volunteers received plaques.
Some of those groups included Hope Church, Double Tree Elementary and Overton High School.
This year’s project involved cleaning neighborhoods and planting trees and flowers.
There were 17,000 volunteers which broke last year’s record at 12,000.
