WASHINGTON — Memphis Police Officer Sean Bolton, who was shot and killed in the line of duty last summer, was honored in our nation’s capital for his service.

Bolton’s family, Interim Director Michael Rallings and the MPD Honor Guard traveled to Washington for the ceremony, which was part of National Police Week.

As part of the week, May 15 is set aside as Peace Officers Memorial Day in honor of the many law enforcement officers who have sacrificed their lives.

Bolton’s name is now displayed on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

“Thank you for your service to this country and to the City of Memphis. You will not be forgotten,” the Memphis Police Department wrote. “Rest Easy our Brother in Blue.”
