MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Family, friends and fans gathered to remember the Queen of Beale Street.
All day long, people could be seen coming in and out of the visitation for legendary singer Ruby Wilson.
There were many who could recall fond memories, and even more who never knew her, but said her music made such an impact they wanted to come and pay their respects.
“She was a very wonderful lady and she was a very pleasant and she always had a smile on her face, and so I wanted to see her today because I know I`ll see her again one day in heaven,” said Ann Merriweather.
Wilson will be laid to rest Friday at 11 a.m. at Baptist Church Westwood located at 620 Parkrose Road.
After the funeral the processional will head down Beale Street and stop at B.B. King’s.
Wilson passed away after suffering from heart failure the previous weekend.
Doctors were able to restart her heart, but she never regained consciousness.
