MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis family said Monday that the fight to complete its loved one’s cemetery plot continued to drag on.

Adonis Middlecoff laid her grandmother, Frances Marie Sorce, to rest in April.

She said her grandmother’s grave remains without a headstone at Forest Hill Cemetery on Elvis Presley.

Staff reportedly told her it would be 90 days to order her grandmother’s headstone.

“I went back out there at the beginning of August, which was well over the 90 days and still no headstone,” Middlecoff said.

Middlecoff said the office told her the person who was supposed to order it never did, and since that time she has not gotten any straight answers.

She said different people have claimed to have ordered it at different times.

Middlecoff said she learned another person had a similar problem based on a complaint on the Better Business Bureau’s website.

Shesaid she has family coming in for the Labor Day holiday.

“They’re going to go out there and, you know, make a day of seeing all of our relatives, and they’re not going to be able to see a headstone for her, which I think is unacceptable,” Middlecoff said.

WREG visited the front office, and the person inside said she was on her way to an appointment.

WREG left a phone number and tried calling back later Monday.

Forest Hill has an “A+” rating from the BBB, though it is not accredited with that organization.

BBB said Forest Hill has resolved customer complaints from the past year.
