Fans Plan Coach Hollins Rally

(Memphis) Fans in support of Memphis Grizzlies Coach Lionel Hollins are planning a rally Saturday at 3:30 at Tom Lee Park. This is their latest effort in getting team management to re-sign the coach after a record-setting season.

“Let the ownership or the upper management know that we really care about our coach. I mean he’s done a lot of work for the team this year, with the best record in franchise history making it all the way to the western conference finals,” said rally coordinator Daniel Dewitt.

“Signs, a little bit of music, just kind of a pep rally for Coach Hollins to let him know we care about him,” Dewitt explained.

Hollins participated in the Grizzlies first draft workout this week. He also appeared on News Channel 3 with Alex Coleman. He would only say his agent is in talks with management about his contract.

“I’m hoping that we get a resolution fairly quickly that would be ideal,” said Hollins.

Fans have already started a Facebook page in support of the coach. They hope Saturday’s rally will be a slam dunk.

“Wear your Grizzlies gear. Come on out like you would prior to the game and let Mr. Pera know we want to keep our coach for next year,” added Dewitt.

The rally will be Saturday, June 8th, at  3:30 at Tom Lee Park in downtown Memphis.
