Use this recipe from Chef Felicia (as seen on Live at 9!) to make meat pies, fruit pies and more.

FRIED PIE DOUGH

3 cups all purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons salt
¾ teaspoon baking powder
6 tablespoons butter
1 egg
¾ cup whole milk
1 egg, beaten
Oil for frying

In a food processor, fitted with a metal blade, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and butter. Process until smooth. Combine the egg and milk together, whisk until smooth. Add the liquid and process until the mixture forms a ball and starts climbing up the sides of the processor. Remove and wrap tightly in parchment paper and then plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Roll out the dough to ¼ inch thick, using a 4 inch ring cut into circles. Spoon a heaping spoonful of your filling in the center of each ring. Using an egg wash, brush the edges of the dough. Fold over the edges to form a half moon and crimp the edges.
Heat the frying oil to 350F. Fry in batches, until golden about 3 minutes. Remove and keep warm in an oven until ready to serve
