RALEIGH, Tenn. — A family feud left one man in critical condition in the hospital.

Police said Devonta Ivy beat his cousin so badly, he was knocked unconscious.

One man who spoke to WREG said his son, Cameron Jones, was the one beat unconscious by his nephew, Davonta Ivy.

“It was something they did. Like a family dispute, like some families do,” the man said.

Police said the cousins began fighting Tuesday while at a party on Lone Rock Cove in Raleigh, and the fight continued later at Gardenwood Apartments.

They said Ivy repeatedly punched Jones and then picked him up and slammed him headfirst on the pavement.

Jones was knocked unconscious and taken to Regional One Medical in critical condition, but Wednesday, the family said he has been released and is doing better.

“He recuperated real good. So right now he’s at home,” Jones’ father told WREG.

Ivy was charged with aggravated assault, but some family members hope that charge will be dropped, and they can handle the matter privately.

“We’re really just trying to come together and just solve this whole thing,” the man said.

Ivy is being held on a $40,000 bond.
