MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A large fire damaged a towing company in downtown Memphis Tuesday.
Lt. Wayne Cooke with the Memphis Fire Department said several cars were burning behind PB&J Towing when crews arrived.
The back of the building, located at S. Main and Virginia, then caught fire.
Fire inspectors said employees were working on a car when it caught fire. The fire then spread to another vehicle and the building.
Damage was estimated at $3,500 for the building, $3,000 for the vehicles, and $8,000 in parts and equipment.
The building does not have a fire safety system.
