Arson investigation underway after South Memphis building goes up in flames

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Fire Department believes an overnight fire along Park and Lamar was intentionally set.

According to initial reports, the fire broke out at 2205 Lamar Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Thursday at what appears to be a vacant building. Authorities said heavy fire was visible by the time they arrived and it took them over 30 minutes to bring it under control.

Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set inside the building. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH (2274) or the State Arson Hotline at 1-800-762-3017.
