MEMPHIS, Tenn. — First responders were called to the scene of an officer-involved accident on Interstate 40.

The accident happened before 5 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near the Hollywood exit.

According to police, officers were blocking traffic due to an unrelated accident when a 2000 Cadillac DTS struck the squad car.

The officer was inside at the time but was not injured.

The suspect reportedly admitted to taking medication prior to the incident.

No charges have been filed at this time.
