SOUTHAVEN, Miss-People are excited about what’s to come in Southaven. Community and state leaders broke ground on one of the largest developers in the country.

Once the construction of Tanger Outlet is completed at I-55 and Church Road in Southaven, it will create 900 full and part-time positions.

People got excited when they heard the names of the stores coming to Tanger Outlet. Many say they can’t wait to start shopping.

The New Tanger Outlet took a big step towards opening.

The outlet will include more than 70 stores.
President and CEO Steve Tanger only named about 10 of them, they include Ann Taylor; Guess; Gap Factory Outlet; White House Black Market; Banana Republic; Columbia; J Crew; Loft; Under Armour; Columbia; Chico’s Outlet

“It’s nice to see some real names attached to that today but we know that it’s going to be comparable to the other centers and so we have a pretty good idea of what the other stores are if you look at the other centers around the country,” said Southaven mayor Darren Musselwhite.

Musselwhite says this is good for Southaven and Memphis.

“We feel like it’s going to complement Memphis, Memphis will compliment us with the Bass Pro Shops and Graceland and all the other things in Memphis so we think that this will work well,” he stated.

The hope is to attract people from all across the region and boost the economy.

The reason Tanger Outlet didn’t name all the stores is because they are still in lease negotiations.
