Flowers placed in Cordova neighborhood to remember murder victim

CORDOVA, Tenn. — Flowers were placed outside of homes in a quiet Cordova neighborhood to remember Susan McDonald who was killed nearly a week ago.

“The purple is for victims of violent crime and the white rose is for justice for the victims of violent crime,” explained Jenny Lupton.

She said she wanted justice.

Lupton didn’t know McDonald but lived down the street from where she was murdered.

“I just thought if we could cover the neighborhood with the purple ribbons and white bows it would show our friend in the neighborhood and her family that we do care,” she said.

It was Saturday when a surveillance camera captured a sedan speeding down Bazemore Road.

Police believed the person who shot McDonald in an attempted robbery was in that car.

Friends told WREG McDonald was getting out of her car to pick up her friend to go running.

Police wouldn’t say where they were in their investigation or if they have any leads or any suspects.

Friend just hoped the video helped them catch the culprit.

For now, with so few answers, Lupton told us she just wanted to support McDonald’s family.

She’s been selling the keepsakes for $10 each with all the money going to McDonald’s family to help them during this tough time.

So far she’s already raised $1,000.

McDonald’s death was also hard for the News Channel 3.

She was a former employee at the station.
