(Memphis) A groundbreaking ceremony will be held today for charter schools founded by Dr. Willie Herenton.

The school board approved the former Memphis mayor and MCS superintendent’s plan to open a total of nine charter schools.

Wednesday at 10 a.m., crews will break ground for the W.E.B. Du Bois Consortium of Charter Schools, Incorporated and Love Fellowship Ministries Partnership.

They will be located at 4475 South Germantown Road, which is north of Shelby Drive.
