MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A former Millington reserve officer faced a judge on a list of charges including child rape and aggravated sexual battery.

WREG discovered disturbing details that led to 69-year-old Rickie Friar’s arrest.

Court records stated he forced a 9-year-old girl to inappropriately touch him more than once and took pictures of it.

Investigators said a woman was cleaning Friar’s house in Millington last week when she saw graphic pictures with a young girl on his iPad.

Deputies said they searched his home and found “numerous sexual explicit photos and videos” of Friar naked with kids “8 years of age and up.”

“Shame, self blame, guilt, anger” said Virginia Stallworth with the Memphis Child Advocacy Center.

Those were just some of the emotions Friar’s victims likely dealt with.

Stallworth worked with kids who were victims of sex crimes.

“So often children are sexually abused by somebody they know and trust,” she said.

Friar was a Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputy more than 30 years ago and, up until this investigation, he was a Reserve Officer in Millington.

Police tracked down Friar in Russellville, Arkansas, and he was extradited Friday.

If he’s found guilty, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.

Friar was scheduled to be in court Friday where he is expected to ask a judge to lower his $1.2 million bond.
