(Memphis) – Former Memphis Police Officer Alex Beard is indicted on vehicular homicide charges.

He’s the officer involved in a deadly crash that killed a mother and daughter, leaving a father all alone waiting for justice.

“It was real good news to me,” father Michael Ross said.

Ross has waited 9 months to hear that Beard is indicted for killing his daughter Mackala and longtime girlfriend Deloris Epps.

“I would like to thank the District Attorney for making a smart decision,” he said.

The former officer faces two counts of vehicular homicide for his part in the deadly crash back in august.

Police say Beard was driving 94 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone before crashing into Michael Ross’s car.His lights and sirens were not on.

“They say vehicular homicide I say murder myself. But it`s a step in the right direction,” he said.

Beard was also indicted on three counts of aggravated assault after the crash injured Ross and another passenger.

“I’m taking therapy three times a day. I have to go have a major surgery again. I go to hospital the hospital the 27th of May,” he said.

Through all the pain what made it worse, he said, was not knowing if Beard would ever be arrested.

“I was getting real concerned,” Ross said. “I was just talking to my family about it. They said be patient, but it has been almost a year. It has been a real hard year for me too.”

What keeps him going is his daughter. He finds strength in her memory.

“She gave me this last year for Father’s Day,” he said holding up a homemade card. “I won’t get one this year.”

So he says he’ll keep fighting for justice for her and her mom.

“The good lord kept me here for a reason. The reason is justice.”

Ross says justice will happened when he sees Beard behind bars.

Beard faces 64 years in prison if he is convicted.

Beard told investigators that he was sorry the crash happened, but said it was Ross who turned into him.
