MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Officer accused of stealing money from two men during a traffic stop has been formally sentenced.

Lorenzo Couch received four years for the crime.

Four months will be spent in prison and then 4 years on parole.

He is set to begin his sentence on April 1.

In 2011, the 31-year-old pulled over two Hispanic men.

He then took them to a dark street and stole hundreds of dollars.

Couch told investigators he robbed them because they were Hispanic and figured they wouldn’t report the incident.

The two men were able to identify Couch in a photo spread.
