‘No complications’ reported after President Carter undergoes surgery

ATLANTA (WGHP) – Everything appears to have gone well after former President Jimmy Carter underwent surgery Tuesday morning, the Carter Center announced.

“There are no complications from the surgery,” the center said in a released statement. “President Carter will remain in the hospital as long as advisable for observation.”

The statement went on to say that his family wanted to “thank everyone for the many well-wishes they have received.”

Carter, 95, was admitted to Emory University Hospital Monday night to relieve pressure on his brain that was reportedly caused due to recent falls.

“President Carter is resting comfortably, and his wife, Rosalynn, is with him,” The Carter Center said in a statement on Monday.

Carter fell in his Plains, Georgia home Oct. 21, according to The Carter Center. It was the second time Carter has taken a fall recently.
