MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A former president is in town, helping people in need by building homes.

Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn are working on a Habitat for Humanity project.

Sunday was the opening ceremony. They’ll help build a new home for a deserving family in the Uptown neighborhood.

It’s the 33rd Carter work project.

Jimmy Carter said Memphis has a great local program that has served more than 400 families in the city with new homes and about 80 families with home-repair projects.
