TAMPA, Fla. — Former Memphis Tigers quarterback Paxton Lynch is now making plays on the biggest stage.

The rookie made his NFL regular-season debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, helping his Denver Broncos to a 27-7 win.

Lynch was put in the game late in the second quarter after starting quarterback Trevor Siemian left the field with an injured left shoulder.

Siemian did not return to the game, and Lynch made a good impression in his place. He completed 14 of 24 passes for 170 yards and one touchdown and had no interceptions.

It remains to be seen whether Lynch will see time next week against the Atlanta Falcons, as Siemian is listed as day-to-day, according to NFL.com.

The Broncos took Lynch in the first round of the draft after a stellar career with the Tigers. He saw some action in preseason play for Denver but hadn’t been called up yet in the regular season.
