MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A four car crash caused by an angry domestic dispute put the life of a 10-month-old baby in jeopardy Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses told WREG it was like bumper cars in a stretch of the interstate between Poplar and Perkins.

It ended with guns being drawn and innocent drivers getting caught up in the domestic drama.

Police said they were still trying to put the pieces together but said one person was taken into custody.

No charges were filed as of Wednesday night.

“Everything got crazy!” said Phylicia Tucker.

She was driving down I-240 with her sisters and 10-month-old niece when she saw her ex-boyfriend in a SUV near the Poplar exit.

Apparently, they’d been fighting so she tried to get his attention.

That’s when things got scary.

“A black Charger comes out of no where, and it comes behind me and rams me,” she described.

Tucker said the woman driving that Charger and her ex-boyfriend teamed up to run her off the interstate, but the plan didn’t work.

Instead, the cars rammed into a fourth car driven by Brian Buffer.

He didn’t know anyone involved.

“Between the two of them, they were trying to bump this car off the expressway,” he said.

The drama then spilled into the median near the Perkins exit.

“When I got out of my vehicle,  he had the gun on her, and I told him to put the gun down,” said Buffer.

“When I looked up, he had a gun pointed at me. She had a gun pointed at me too,” Tucker recalled.

“I got him out of the car and heard the baby crying. You get a lump in your throat when you hear that. I mean he’s got a gun!” said Buffer. “Someone could have been killed out here let alone the accident and the guns today.”

Buffer said he yelled at Tucker’s ex and scared him off.

Officers collected evidence and talked to witnesses into the evening.

They said they will continue to hash out what happened and find Tucker’s ex.

We’re told more than one person could face some serious charges.
