MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A teenage girl told police she was waiting for the school bus Monday morning when a man tried luring her into his car and then exposed himself before driving away.

It happened at the corner of Frayser School Road and Gowan.

“She was crying,” said the victim’s classmate. “She was just crying. She was like the man tried to snatch her.”

He said he found her at the bus stop alone and hysterical.

We decided to hide his identity for safety reasons.

The 13-year-old girl told police a two-door gray car pulled up. The driver reportedly demanded she get in, but she refused.

The man then pulled down his pants and exposed himself, according to the police report.

“He kept trying. I guess eventually he drove off, and she got away,” said the classmate.

Police said they added extra patrols in the neighborhood, but haven’t found the guy yet.

“That’s scary. Too close to home,” said Gloria Williams, who lives next to the bus stop. “We don’t need nobody like that out on the streets.”

The victim’s father spoke to WREG on the phone. He said his little girl was shaken up, but thankfully, she wasn’t hurt.

“Just going to watch my surroundings,” said the classmate. “They got to have some type of way, some type of way to keep kids safe.”
