MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Impact America – Tennessee is looking to make an impact on people struggling to get by.

The agency is working with Rhodes College, Christian Brothers University, and the University of Memphis to prepare taxes for free.

Families with children making less than $52,000 per year or families without children who make under $20,000 per year are eligible for the free service.

Low-income families are often targets during tax season.

Years ago, WREG told viewers about Mo’ Money Taxes. The company was accused of charging high fees and not giving customers their refunds.

Organizers at Impact America – Tennessee said the people they work with to do your taxes can be trusted.

“They have a great reputation in these communities. These students here are very hard working and have put a lot of effort in. They are very caring about this community, and they’re being trained at the highest level to do this professionally for free,” Seth Nelson with Impact America said.

Tax preparation services will start next Thursday, January 22, and continue through April.

If you are interested in the service, make an appointment by calling 1-844-TAXES-TN.

Student tax professionals will be at the Binghampton Development Corporation (280 Tillman Street) on Wednesday through Saturday.
