OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — Tow trucks’ flashing lights lit up many Mid-South roads Friday, thanks to the February Freeze.

WREG cameras captured video of a tow truck hauling away a SUV on I-55 southbound between Goodman and State Line Road after a wreck. News crews also saw another tow company pull a semi-truck out of the ditch on Highway 78 in Olive Branch.

The tow truck driver in Olive Branch didn’t have time to interview with WREG on the scene because he needed to get to another crash in Senatobia.

Despite the mayhem in certain parts of the Mid-South, Acme Towing in West Memphis, Arkansas, told WREG Friday was actually rather slow.

“You think you’d have a little bit going on,” A.G. Raines with Acme said.

He said West Memphis apparently didn’t get hit as hard as other areas.

AAA said Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee all have laws to protect emergency vehicles, which includes tow trucks. Drivers are encouraged to move over for tow trucks if possible.

Regardless, the laws state drivers slow down when passing emergency vehicles.
