MEMPHIS, Tenn. –WREG has learned more about a Cordova man FBI agents said is connected to at least one of Wednesdays string of early morning gas station robberies.
WREG was able to track down at least six stations that said they were victims.
Christopher Dorsey was arrested for armed robbery and other charges after police said he hit an officer with his car and several police cruisers as he was trying to get away.
“I waved at him the other day,” said Larry Carrico, who lives a few houses down from Dorsey in Cordova.
Carrico was shocked to learn Dorsey could be connected to six armed robberies and one attempted gas station robbery in the Cordova area.
Dorsey was caught after police said he robbed at Circle K at Germantown Parkway and Trinity.
“It’s a shame, it’s a shame,” said Carrico.
Dorsey’s arrest Wednesday wasn’t his first.
Back in 2010 he was found guilty of theft and possession of marijuana.
In 2011 he was charged with aggravated robbery and possession of a controlled substance.
The same year he was found guilty of violating his probation and once again for theft.
Carrico knew he had been in trouble before.
“Kids will be kids sometimes. Course this isn’t kids stuff,” he said.
Dorsey wasn’t the only one in the car at the time of the early morning heist.
Shawn Rucker was a passenger.
Rucker was not charged with robbery but police said he ran from them too.
He was found guilty of assault with bodily harm last month.
Carrico said Dorsey’s family has always been good neighbors.
“I feel so sorry for them,” he said.
The FBI, who is handling the investigation because multiple states could be involved, would not say if they plan to charge Dorsey with the other robberies.
