PANOLA COUNTY, Miss. – A gas station worker, who District Attorney John Champion confirmed is not a suspect in Jessica Chambers’ death, has left the area for now.
Ali Alsanai told WREG via Facebook he left the state because of the drama surrounding the case and people threatening his life.
He said it was, “too much headache,” but said Wednesday he’s planning to return to Mississippi anyway.
Alsanai gave investigators surveillance video of Chambers when she visited the store in the hours before her murder.
Some people accused Alsanai of altering the video, or knowing the details of her death shortly after it happened.
Alsanai said he learned about what happened from investigators.
WREG visited the gas station earlier this week and another employee said Alsanai did not work there anymore.
The person said Alsanai left around Christmas to be with family.
There have not been any arrests in Jessica Chambers’ death.
The reward for information is $43,000.
Officials ask anyone with information to call 1-800-729-2169.
