Germantown Police looking for burglars with “sawed-off, SKS rifle”

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — Germantown Police said they’re looking for a pair of burglars who aimed a sawed-off rifle at a man just feet from his front door.

The victim told WREG the suspects threatened to shoot after he caught them snooping through his car.

His kids and wife woke up to the terror over the weekend at their home in the 1600 Oak Hill Road.

The victim, who wanted to stay anonymous for safety reasons, said he saw the two suspects get into a black sedan, speed down Oak Hill Road and hit Poplar.

“I was watching TV about 11:45 at night,” said the victim. “I heard them breaking into my car.”

He had put his kids and wife to bed just before midnight Friday in their Germantown home.

He was winding down when he saw two men snooping through his car stealing his iPad and some money.

“I came downstairs and turned on the light and opened the front door. I stepped on the porch,” said the victim.

He yelled at the pair as they sprinted to their getaway car.

Police said the suspects then pulled out a “sawed-off, SKS rifle” and threatened to open fire.

“They said things to me, you know, about killing me,” said the victim. “My wife and kids were right behind me. It is hard to stay here when you think it could happen again tomorrow.”

The victim hoped the pair is caught before any other family has to experience what his went through this weekend.
