GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — Germantown Police arrested a 17-year-old accused of trying to rob a homeowner at gunpoint Friday.
It was just one in a long list of crimes in Germantown this year.
The year started off with Germantown Police investigating a string of driveway robberies .
On January 11, a person was robbed in their driveway on Johnson Road.
Within two days, it happened again. A woman was robbed in her driveway on Glenda as she was getting things out of her car. During that robbery, a masked man took her purse.
Before January was over, there was another case. An elderly couple was robbed in their driveway January 16 as they returned home on Great Oaks.
In April, a gun was pulled on a woman as she washed her car in her driveway. The gunman demanded her purse.
In July, there was a home break-in on River Valley Drive. A young girl called her father frantic as she hid in the closet while two men broke in.
On September 11, a man on Oak hill Road told police some guys in a dark sedan pointed a rifle at him in an attempted robbery.
WREG ran the TBI crime numbers for Germantown and found crime has been down the last 3 years.
While there has been a small increase in robberies, the report said aggravated assaults, burglaries and auto thefts are all down.
Police don`t think the crimes are related, but people we talked to said they are doing what they can.
That includes getting to know their neighbors so they will know if something seems out of place.
