MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Local Girl Scouts and FedEx have teamed up to bring troops overseas a tasty treat that’s sure to make them smile. On Tuesday, FedEx picked up more than 9,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies free of charge and will deliver them to Operation Troop Aid in Brooksville, Florida. All of the cookies sent were donated by the organization to U.S. troops overseas as part of the Troop2Troops program. “We are so pleased that FedEx is partnering with Girl Scouts Heart of the South to help us deliver a taste of home to our troops serving in foreign lands. Without their generous assistance, Girl Scouts Heart of the South would have to spend hundreds of dollars to ship this donation. Now that money can instead be spent on programming for the girls,” said Melanie Schild, Girl Scouts Heart of the South CEO. For more information on Troop2Troops, click here.
