Global Ministries, HUD inspections will be focus of Senate subcommittee hearing

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation and Community Development is holding a hearing next Thursday and Memphis-based Global Ministries Foundation will be the focus.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio said, “This is another step in holding them accountable,” in reference to the non-profit now at the center of a federal investigation.

The hearing entitled, Oversight of the HUD Inspection Process, will include witness testimony from a resident of GMF owned Eureka Garden in Jacksonville, Florida.

Like Warren and Tulane in Memphis, Eureka Garden residents complained about living in horrible conditions. GMF was able to avoid a funding loss at that complex but was put on notice about the problems by HUD.

At this time, no tenants or people associated with Memphis properties are on the witness list.

WREG has previously reported on how HUD often breaks its own rules with late inspections.
