JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant signed an emergency declaration for the Tunica County School District.
The proclamation placed the district under the Mississippi Board of Education’s jurisdiction.
“I, Phil Bryant…do hereby issue this Proclamation to declare that, due to serious violations of accreditation standards and state law and a continued pattern of poor student performance, which jeopardize the safety, security, and educational interests of the children enrolled in the schools of this District, a state of extreme emergency exists in the Tunica County School District.”
