MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis City Council has voted to delay the vote on an ordinance regarding the parking situation on the Greensward.
Supporters of the Memphis Zoo and the Overton Park Conservancy packed into the meeting on Tuesday.
Those who supported the zoo wore yellow while Greensward supporters doned green.
They waited patiently only to be told the City Council would take up the issue in two weeks.
A few minutes after the announcement, all of the zoo people got up and left, saying they didn’t want to waste the council’s time being there.
They said they would be back in force in two weeks.
